my friend Josh helped me out this past weekend by taking some really nice photos of my work. in exchange, i helped him do some test lighting shots for a shoot he did last night and thought i'd share them because they look pretty cool. you can check out more of Josh's work at his site, http://joshuablakephotography.com/.

From the Colonial Park Cemetery in Savannah, GA which was created by the Savannah Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The ladies in the 'roids are my friends Kelsy and Emma and believe it or not, Kelsy actually is a DAR. Quite a nice little coincidence!

In the spirit of All Hallow's Eve, Martha Stewart Living ran this article about "the headstones of this country's oldest cemeteries." I don't know how other families do, but in mine, we visit cemeteries all of the time. I mean, cemeteries where relatives are buried...not just any old cemetery for shizzers and giggles or something. I took this Polaroid when I was in Boston on The Freedom Trail this past summer. I really like Puritan Death Heads as those little skulls with wings on the gravestones are aptly named. That would actually make a great band name. Anywho, I like cemeteries. During the day at least. And the more you think about it, people are obsessed with cemeteries and graves and memorials to the once living. Think about Napoleon's tomb in Paris! Or those beautiful cemeteries in New Orleans full of mausoleum's...or the tomb of the unknown soldier in Arlington, Va....there is so much inspiration in death.

Dear Mum,

this post is inspired by a great Polaroid artist, (not me~someone else! haha. jk jk.) Maripol and a little tribute to The Impossible Project's success! i am so happy that instant film for Polaroid cameras is being put back into production. i no longer need to cry myself to sleep at night. there is hope in the world again!

a visit to the MOMA on friday reminded me of how much i love robert rauschenberg's combine series. remember that great show the Met had of them in 2006?

i think that now is as good a time as any to tell you that i'm obsessed with my grandparents, both maternal and paternal. this post is regarding my dad's parents, the ones that have lived in the same row house in northeast philly since the fifties.
